Today I was able to center my clay really quickly which was exciting! When opening the clay I have been working on leaving a thicker base, because I tend to make the hole too deep. However, my bases were better today. Therefore, the next step is creating the walls to form a cylinder. My cylinder from today is shown below.

Today I worked on opening my centered clay, in order to be able to create a cylinder. I am planning on working on building walls tomorrow. Something I need to work on is my technique while opening -- sometimes the walls had an uneven thickness.
Today I figured out how to center clay on the wheel. One of the things I had to fix was my form over the wheel. I was not leaning close enough to the wheel while throwing, which was making centering harder. However, once this was fixed I was able to center a wheel relatively quickly. This is a lot of progress from the day before! I am hopeful to make my first bowl tomorrow!
I did not create anything today. Emily was teaching me how to throw, which I think I am starting to get the hang of. I struggled at the beginning of the period because I am left-handed and was trying to throw right-handed. I am hopeful to make my first bowl tomorrow.
This page will hold my working blog for all of my upcoming project in Intermediate Ceramics. I will update this every week so that I can keep making projects!
